Internet self-publisher Gary Sim at www.sim-publishing.com has provided an excellent summary of the career of West Coast painter John Innes who provided illustrations to numerous books including a limited edition of Chinook Days (1926) by Tom McInnes, The Epic of Western Canada (1928) and From Trail to Trail - the Epic of Transportation (1930). He was a founding member of the B.C. Art League in 1920. According to Sim, Innes was born in London, Ontario in 1863, the son of George Mignon and Elizabeth Ann (Clarke) Innes, and he died in Vancouver in 1941.
