Stan Cowie of Williams Lake has self-published an adventure novel of the high seas, The Boy, The Man (2013). It's a story that began to take shape for Cowie when he was on a tugboat off the west coast of Africa. At fifteen, he worked as an apprentice in the shipyards of his native Aberdeen, Scotland, leading to a five-year stint in the British army. In 1967, he immigrated to Canada.
