"Willcocks, who grew up in Toronto and Montreal, worked for newspapers in four provinces before moving to Victoria to become publisher of The Times-Colonist.

"Since 1996 he's covered B.C. politics and policy for The Sun, The Globe and Mail, Reuters and publications across the province.

"Willcocks was the 2003 reciepient of the Jack Webster Foundation's commentator of the year award for his work in The Sun, and is a 2000 National Magazine Award finalist.

"Willcocks has an English degree from Concordia University in Montreal and has done professional development courses at the American Management Association, the American Press Institute and INSEAD.

"Willcocks ran newspapers across Canada before returning to journalism."
