An SFU Alumna in Kinesiology and Criminology, Jennifer Ashton self-published The Great Oak Joke (Vancouver, BC: Jenn Ashton, 2014).

In 2020, she published People Like Frank: and other stories from the edge of normal (Tidewater $19.95) due out this October. The short stories include: the tumultuous short-term relationship between a woman, an asparagus bag and a garbageman; a young woman in a group home investigating an unusual knitted material; and an obsessed bag boy fighting with a squirrel. Ashton sits on the boards of the Federation of BC Writers and the Indigneous Writer's Collective.
