The interdisciplinary arts group Sun Belt features the work of Rick Maddocks, Stephen Lyons, Carrie Walker, Dave Wilson, Jon Wood, Paul Rigby and Sandra Carvalho Gonzalez. Sun Belt incorporates music, fiction, painting, illustration, performance and photography. Presumably the group's name comes from the inspiration they get from the desert.
Sun Belt's debut work, Cabalcor: An Extracted History (Anvil, 2015) is about the rise and fall of a company town that becomes a desert wasteland in less than a hundred years. The book is illustrated and comes with an MP3 downloadable album.
