Recent studies have suggested that, in general, attendance and membership at Canadian churches are in decline. In A Culture of Faith (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2015) the authors argue “that evangelical Protestant congregations demonstrate greater resiliency within a broader context of declining religiosity.” Through a nationwide study that involved interviews and analysis, they found that “while there may be signs of decline on the horizon, Canadian evangelical congregations seem to remain vital at a time when most other Christian traditions are waning.”

Michael Wilkinson received his BTh from Eastern University, BA from Carleton University, MA from Laurier University and his PhD at the University of Ottawa. He is a sociology professor and director of the Religion in Canada Institute at Trinity Western University.
