Recent studies have suggested that, in general, attendance and membership at Canadian churches are in decline. In A Culture of Faith (McGill-Queen's University Press, 2015) the authors argue "that evangelical Protestant congregations demonstrate greater resiliency within a broader context of declining religiosity."; Through a nationwide study that involved interviews and analysis, they found that "while there may be signs of decline on the horizon, Canadian evangelical congregations seem to remain vital at a time when most other Christian traditions are waning.";

Michael Wilkinson received his BTh from Eastern University, BA from Carleton University, MA from Laurier University and his PhD at the University of Ottawa. He is a sociology professor and director of the Religion in Canada Institute at Trinity Western University.
