A lifelong resident of northern B.C., Kara-lee MacDonald was teaching English at the Fort St. John Literacy Society and completing her MA in English (UNBC) when she published her first poetry collection, Eating Matters (Caitlin, 2016), in which a semi-autobiographical narrator overcomes her complex drives and compulsions arising from anorexia and bulimia. It's described as part trauma travelogue, part self-analysis, part cultural critique and part healing journey into binge/purge purgatory.
