Having grown up in Winnipeg, Owain Nicholson studied both creative writing and archaeology at the University of Victoria. Digsite (Nightwood, 2016) draws on Nicholson's work in the Alberta oil sands and arboreal forest. A working archaeologist, he uses history, ancestry, nature and people to centre both his practices. His poetry often uses the digsite as a metaphor.
