Creative writing instructor John Mavin's first short fiction collection is Rage (Thistledown 2017) about the dark side of human nature. The stories loosely follow a group of people from a fictional Ontario town who deal with lives based on lies and abuse.

Mavin has taught at Capilano University, SFU, UBC, New Shoots (through the Vancouver School Board) and at the Learning Exchange in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. He has been nominated for the Aurora Award and the Journey Prize.
