After traveling around Vancouver Island by kayak, rowboat, bicyle, cross-country skis, airplanes, helicopters, freighters, Zodiaks, railway cars and pickup trucks, Victoria-based historical writer Peter Grant gained the local knowledge required to pen Vancouver Island: The 101 Places Every Islander Must See (MacIntyrePurcell, 2011).

Peter Grant is the author of numerous books about Vancouver Island (Victoria a History in Photographs; Wish You Were Here, Life on Vancouver Island in Historical Postcards; Vancouver Island Book of Everything; Vancouver Island Imagine, with Boomer Jerritt) and is the proprietor of the Oak Bay Chronicles weblog (oakbaychronicles.ca). He lives in Victoria.
