The Rebar Modern Food Cookbook (Big Ideas/Whitecap $29.95) by restaurant owner Audrey Alsterberg and chef Wanda Urbanowicz has both vegetarian and vegan recipes. It has appeared on the B.C. Bestsellers List since its release in December of 2001.
The recipes are based on dishes from the popular Victoria restaurant that opened in 1989. Rebar is being hyped as Western Canada’s leader in vegetarian cuisine—which will be news to the folks at the Naam restaurant in Vancouver who have been packing ’em in meatlessly since the 1960s. 0-96886-230-6
