Born in 1947, with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Waterloo and an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from UVic, Gail Boulanger of Nanoose Bay, B.C. has worked as a personal counsellor and lifestyle coach since 1985. Her first self-published book Life Goes On (Sandhill, 2002) was reissued as Life Goes On: Losing, Letting Go and Living Again (2012) in conjunction with a reflective work, Adventures Over Sixty (2012), and advisory guide to overcoming grief and engaging in physical pursuits, community building and creative expression.

"Stepping off into the unknown and taking that proverbial leap of faith has, for me, always produced a bonanza. Most of us shudder at the memory of youthful blind-dates (talk about taking a leap of faith), but the one and only blind date I had opened doors to a new life. On July 6, 1968, I met my husband-to-be, Lou, on a blind date on his 26-foot Thunderbird sailboat, Aureola. We were married March 1, 1969."
