Eric Wilson is Canada's bestselling author for juveniles (ages 8-12). By 2005 his book had reputedly sold 1.5 million copies in Canada. As a White Rock grade eight teacher he began writing for reluctant readers with Murder on the Canadian in 1976. His Liz and Tom Austen detective books, set in various Canadian provinces, include The Lost Treasure of Casa Loma, Vampires of Ottawa, The Green Gables Detectives and Code Red at the Supermall. His B.C. titles include Vancouver Nightmare, The Kootenay Kidnapper, The Unmasking of 'Ksan (set near his boyhood Kitimat haunts) and The Emily Carr Mystery. His books often incorporate social issues such as destruction of forests, disabled children, terrorism and Minimata disease. They are the basis for an 11-part television series. He was born in Ottawa in 1940 and grew up in Winnipeg and B.C., the son of an RCMP detective who published his memoirs. He lives with his wife Flo in Victoria.
