A North Vancouver lawyer, Fleishman specialized in matrimonial and family law for 25 years prior to writing Counsel for the Damned (J.J. Douglas, 1973), a sometimes bombastic study of contemporary marriage practices and attitudes. Self-published in 1985 after six years of intermittent research, his other book was The X Factor: An American Cultural Dilemma, which he believed was the first serious study of female psychopaths. The son of a B.C. lawyer, Fleishman was born in Vancouver in 1917 and became a lawyer in 1948. He became an American citizen in 1990 and died in 1993.
