Wilf B. Schofield, a professor emeritus of botany at the University of British Columbia, retired from UBC in 1994 but remained active in his field, leading events in Richmond on International Bog Day. Born on July 19, 1927, he taught school in Nova Scotia, attended Acadia University, received an M.A. from Stanford and a Ph.D from Duke University. He taught in the botany department at UBC for 34 years, becoming a world authority on bryophytes. He is the author of numerous books including:
