A young man named Webster O'Connor and his partner Lily move to Gibson's Landing to open a bookstore and search for a sense of place. Dr. Holley, a retired cardiologist and surgeon, looks back on his life filled with rewards and regrets. Meanwhile, his granddaughter Petra searches for a way to fulfill her own life while crossing paths with Webster and Dr. Holley. Lily has a relationship with a bisexual Swedish au pair named Tina, who also has a liaison with Webster. The lives of Webster, Dr. Holley and Petra form a triptych representing the past, the present and the future in screenwriter Michael Thoma's first novel Gibson's Landing (Terra Bella 1997 $14.95), published when Thoma was 43. 1896171230
