Elizabeth Gourlay was raised in a small town in New Brunswick and educated at McGill before moving to Vancouver in 1950 and later receiving an MFA in Creative Writing. Her plays have been professionally produced and she has published several books of poetry since 1969, most recently Colours for Scriabin: New and Selected Poems (The Caitlin Press, 1990), plus a 1987 collection of short stories, The Celluloid Barrette (The Caitlin Press). Other poetry titles are Motions, Dreams and Aberrations; Songs and Dances; and M Poems. She came to live in Vancouver in 1950.
