Bonder grew up as an only child in Kamloops B.C., drawing and writing stories to amuse herself from an early age. She lived in Maple Ridge, B.C. with her husband Lee before they moved to Gabriola Island. "Whether I illustrate for others or illustrate my own stories, I am positively the luckiest person in the world," she has said.
