Pamela Humphreys' book The History of Wigwam Inn (Vancover: Perfect Printers, 1982) chronicles the colourful history of the Wigwman Inn in Indian Arm before it was bought by the Vancouver Yacht Club as a destination for boaters. The Inn dates back to 1910. It's first owner was 'a very distant cousin' of Charles Dickens named Benjamin Franklin Dickens. In the 1960 the Inn was restored to briefly serve as a gambling casino until the RCMP mounted a dawn raid. It was the setting for a movie starring Warren Beatty called The Grove. Hippies had the run of the place, then it fell into ruin during the Sixties and Seventies. Humphrey's booklet contains many photos and one chapter by Steven G. Wong about the renovations undertaken prior to re-opening the Inn in October of 1980.
