LAWRENCE, Hal




A 28-year navy veteran, Hal Lawrence was born into a military family. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939. Twice decorated for valour, he retired in 1965 and taught English at the University of Ottawa before moving to Victoria. His naval histories are A Bloody War, Tales of the North Atlantic and most recently Victory at Sea. He died in 1993.
