Born in Nova Scotia in 1925, Donald MacKay lives in Montreal but has written a company history of MacMillan Bloedel, Empire of Wood, plus Heritage Lost: The Crisis in Canada's Forests. As well, his social history The Lumberjacks McGraw-Hill Ryerson, 1978) was nominated for a Governor General's Award and he detailed the race between the Grand Trunk Pacific and Canadian Northern railways to reach Vancouver and commence a Pacific Rim link in The Asian Dream (D&M 1986). Other titles include Anticosti and Scotland Farewell.
