For the past ten years Strong has worked in the area of caregiving to those with anxiety disorders. He received his schooling B.C. and his university education at Victoria College and University of British Columbia (BSc.) He gained his teaching training at UBC. While at university, he was in the Royal Canadian Air Force and later worked with B.C. Fish & Game Department. He taught in Dawson Creek, B.C.; at University of Chieng Mai, Chieng Mai, Thailand; and at Oak Bay Secondary in Victoria, B.C. He is a past President of the B.C. Science Teachers' Association and was on the Council of St. David-by-the-Sea for six years. He is currently a member of the Saanich Board of Variance.
