Gloria Snively's Exploring the Seashore has been through eleven printings since 1978. It's a comprehensive field guide to shorebirds and intertidal life which contains 285 drawings (mostly by Philip Croft), more than 100 photos and nine maps. Born in 1943, Snively has taught science education at UVic and frequently travels from Oregon to Alaska giving workshops about seashore education.
