John E. Sorrell attempted to set a Guinness record for longest solo poetry reading in Vancouver in 1991. Born in 1954 in Louisa, Kentucky, he came to B.C. in 1981 and taught creative writing at UBC. With Sharon Dalgleish he produced a 1991 play, Confessions in the Flesh, based on his writing. Following In Broad Daylight, his 1992 poetry title is On the Other Side of the River, published in the U.S. He left Vancouver in 1993.
