Lois Walker's half-hour television series for children called Take Part! has appeared on YTV since 1988. In addition to her column in The Province, which she started in 1989, she has written 13 books for children, such as Get Growing: Exciting Plant Projects for Kids, Instant Puppets for Kids and Crafts for Kids. Formerly head of theatre at Notre Dame University, she also edits and publishes reading assistance materials for elementary school teachers. Formerly a resident of North Vancouver, she moved to West Vancouver in 1992. She was born in Elyria, Ohio in 1941 and came to B.C. to teach in Nelson in 1967.
