An associate professor in the Department of English at UBC, Echard co-edited The Book Unbound: Editing and Reading Medieval Manuscripts and Texts (UTP, 2004) with UBC's Stephen Partridge. The study looks at the pros and cons of digital editions versus print editions, and offers practical ideas on editing print and hypertext. His 1998 title was Arthurian Narrative in the Latin Tradition (Cambridge University Press, 1998).
