In 1993, Kendall Hunter went to Johannesburg, South Africa as a volunteer photojournalist for the South African newspaper New Nation. She witnessed the dissolution of apartheid and Nelson Mandela's ascent to the presidency. Her book of text and photos is Black Taxi: Shooting South Africa (Turnstone, 1996). Born in Banff, she moved to Vancouver after living in South Africa.
