A writer of religious books for children, Adams was born in New York in 1827 and died in California in approximately 1900. Her travel letters, originally published in a Cleveland newspaper, chronicled her trips by rail or ship, and detailed her thoughts on schools, agriculture, and the position of women and other events of her time.
