Rob Howatson, Anne Jew and Lisa Marr collected their stories and poems in The Skinnier Leg of the Journey (Black Cat Collective Press, 1993). The book's nine stories are linked by the theme of making journeys, both through the world and through the mind. Anne Jew is a graduate of UBC's English Literature program. Lisa Marr is the lead singer in the band 'cub' and the former editor of Discorder and Motel. Howatson is a freelance writer whose articles and reviews appear in the Vancouver Sun and Terminal City. The three formed the Black Cat Collective in 1991 to publish the book. Anne Jew has written a monthly film and video column 'The Bijouz' in Discorder magazine and contributed to Many-Mouthed Birds: Contemporary Writing by Chinese Canadians (Douglas & McIntyre, 1991).
