Born in Lynn Valley in North Vancouver in 1912, John Condit worked mostly as a journalist, editing U.S. dailies and employed in editorial positions at the Vancouver Province and Vancouver Sun. He specialized in aviation coverage and also held management positions in the aircraft industry. While living in White Rock he wrote Wings Over the West: Russ Baker and the Rise of Pacific Western Airlines (Harbour, 1984), with a foreword by Pierre Berton. Russ Baker was a bush pilot who developed Pacific Western into Canada's third largest airline.
