At age 90, Dorothea Mitchell of Victoria recalled her experiences in the Port Arthur region of Ontario as a young woman recently arrived from England. She worked in a mining camp and eventually operated her own sawmill on the P.D. Railway in the Lakehead district. Her memoirs pre-date World War One and extend into the 1940s. They were entitled Lady Lumberjack (Mitchell Press, 1967). She was not related to the family that operated Mitchell Press.
