Canadian historian Lawrence Burpee (1873-1946) wrote a biography of railroader Sandford Fleming and a history of early Western Canada that includes the rise of fur trading forts along the Pacific coast. Two other works concern the Canadian Rockies. On the Old Athabaska Trail retraces the routes of fur traders.
