O'LOUGHLIN, Chloe

The Rescue of Nanoose (Touchwood $12.95) by Mary Borrowman and Chloe O'Loughlin is based on the true story of a humpback whale that was freed near the boardwalk community of Telegraph Cove on September 23, 1994 after it became entangled in a rope that had fallen off a fish boat. Captain Mike Durban of the Blue Fjord swam to the whale in his wetsuit and cut the rope with a knife. Mary Borrowman lives in Telegraph Cove where she and her husband Jim have operated Stubbs Island Whale Watching for more than 25 years. Chloe O'Loughlin is executive director of the BC Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wildnerness Society.
