Healing in the Wilderness (Harbour $26.95)
The role of doctors and nurses in United Church Mission Hospitals across the country, including the mission boats that plied the West Coast, is recorded in Bob Burrows’ Healing in the Wilderness (Harbour $26.95). The likes of Dr. Ashley Armstrong (at left) went to work pulling teeth on the dock as soon as he arrived at Port Essington. 1-55017-338-3
