Native Arts of the Pacific Northwest from the Rasmussen Collection of the Portland Art Museum (Stanford, California: Stanford University Press, 1949). This book reveals the beginning of what is art-anthropology, a field that differentiates from archaeology and ethnology as they re-evaluate the materials within this collection. Axel Rasmussen spent a quarter century collecting masks, blankets, and carvings amongst other artifacts and the collection was then purchased by the Portland Art Museum.
