The Alexandria band of approximately 70 Aboriginals on the banks of the Fraser River, about 75 kilometres north of Williams Lake and 50 kilometres south of Quesnel, is the focus for The People of Alexandria (Alexandria Indian Band, Quesnel School District Native Education Program, 1990) by band chief Violet Stump and her sister Sharon Stump, illustrated by Maggie Ferguson-Dumais. The reserve was long connected by the Marguerite cable ferry and extends to both sides of the river, intersected by Highway 97.
