Vancouver Sun cartoonist Leonard Matheson Norris published annual collections of his work, with slightly varying titles, for almost 20 years, such as Annual Collection of Norris Cartoons From the Vancouver Sun (Vancouver: Sunprinting, 1952) and The Best of Norris as Selected by Himself (1955). He also contributed illustrations for Johann's Gift to Christmas (1972) by Jack Richards. [See Jack Richards entry] Norris was born in London, England on December 1, 1913 and died in Langley on August 12, 1997. He joined The Sun in 1950 and contributed his Tiddleycove cartoons, lightly satirizing the ex-British citizenry of West Vancouver where he lived, until 1988. He had previously worked as an art director in advertising for Maclean Hunter, Ltd.
