A dual citizen with Canadian parents, McFetridge did graduate work at Stanford University in his 30s in electrical engineering. He then worked as a consultant, and as an occasional lecturer at a California State university. Returning to Canada in his 40s, Grant moved to the islands off the B.C. coast. Concurrently with his engineering career, he became interested in psychology and developed a regression healing therapy called Whole-Hearted Healing. He has since founded the Institute for the Study of Peak States and obtained a Ph.D. in Psychology.
