Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Gayle Millbank came to B.C. in her early 20s. She is a self-published author who first learned about the miraculous transfer of the sun's energy to the chlorophyll molecules deep inside a green leaf in a Biology class at UBC in 1968. It was so simple and so beautiful and so profound that she never forgot it. She wants young children to know how green plants capture the sun's energy and store it as sugar for their own use and for the survival of all living creatures.
