Raised in Alaska, Jerilynn Prior earned an honours MD in Boston and became a UBC professor in 1994. She founded the Centre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research and has done controversial research which shows that regular ovulation is needed for optimal health and that perimenopause is caused by higher estrogen levels, not lower, as commonly believed.
