As one of the first of many Canadian soldiers to be captured in Hong Kong in December of 1941, Kenneth Cambon was sent to a hard-labour camp in Japan. Some 50 years later, he provided a remarkably restrained account of his ordeal in Guest of Hirohito (Vancouver: P.V. Press, 1990). An epilogue describes Cambon's return journey to Japan in 1985.
