Adam Johan von Krusenstern (in the Nadezhda) and Captain J.F. Lisianski (in the Neva) accomplished the first Russian circumnativation of the world, making important discoveries in the North Pacific. Krusenstern named the Cook Islands in honour of Captain Cook.
