Margo Bates of White Rock has self-published a comical first novel about twelve-year-old Maggie Mulvaney and her grandmother Nana Noonan, a local legend in the town of Telkwa, British Columbia, during the late 1950s and early 1960s. The two main characters live 150 miles apart and correspond. Margo Bates was raised in northern British Columbia. "Part fact, part fiction," her novel is entitled P.S. In 2012, Margo Bates became President of Canadian Authors Association - Vancouver chapter, its Program & Publicity Committee Chair, and the CAA National MarComm (marketing & communications) Committee Chair. She is an alumna of Erma Bombeck Humor Writers Workshop, University of Dayton, Ohio.
