William Edward (Ed) Yeomans was an English professor at UBC who self-published a collection of poems, The Green Dragon, in 1976. He also published critical works on writers that included T.S. Eliot and W.B. Yeats. Born on April 7, 1927 in St. John, New Brunswick, he died as a resident of Galiano Island on December 11, 2009.

He played jazz piano in Toronto nightclubs while gaining his Master's degree from University of Chicago in 1957, the same year he married Patricia Folster with whom he had four children. He first taught in rural New Brunswick prior to his career at UBC which lasted for 31 years. He remarried to Beverley Fader (neé McGaw) in 1989, and acquired four step-children. On Galiano Island he was active in supporting the work of the Islands Trust.
