Two bodies still lie beneath the rubble of the new Hope Princeton Highway, victims of the January 9th, 1965 landslide that brought 46 million cubic metres of mountainside thundering down into the valley of Nicolum Creek, outside Hope. In total four people were killed, one of the many details to be found in Steve Short and Bernie Palmer's outdoor guide, The Best of B.C. (Whitecap $17.95), which covers 120 locations. The guide also offers practical advice on what to wear, when to go and how to get there, etc.
