Squamish-based Amber Cowie wrote the thrillers, Loss Lake (Lake Union Publishing, 2020) and Raven Lane (Lake Union Publishing 2019) after her debut title Rapid Falls (Lake Union Publishing, 2017), which was short-listed for the 2017 Whistler Independent Book Awards, hit number one overall on Amazon and was a top-100 bestselling Kindle book in 2018.

Her fourth thriller, Last One Alive (Simon & Schuster, 2022) follows a team of researchers exploring the myth of 'the stone witch' at a remote cabin on the Pacific Northwest. They investigate a story about the original owner, who met a violent death and his wife, who disappeared. Afterwards, a young couple begin renovating the cabin to run as an eco-lodge when they suddenly disappear, never to be heard of again. The investigators, led by a debut novelist looking for inspiration, are beset by storms, fraying tempers, satellite phones that stop working and delayed boats that don't appear for days. Then some of the investigators disappear and bodies turn up. The team must make a decision to run for it, or stay behind and solve the mystery of the stone witch.

Amber Cowie's work has appeared in The New York Times, Salon, The Globe and Mail, Crime Reads, and Scary Mommy. Cowie is a graduate of the University of Victoria.
