BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS: Dr.BELL graduated in microbiology, immunology and biochemistry from UBC, Iowa State University and University of Western Ontario. He has published peer reviewed papers on the decomposition of the herbicide 2,4-D by soil bacteria and after joining the Pacific Biological Station in Nanaimo in 1957 he became Head of the Department Fisheries and Oceans Fish Health Program for the Pacific Region. Other publications dealt with salmon anatomy, physiology and diseases. He retired in 1986 and went consulting in Chile and Malaysia.
