Janet Bingham, born in 1928, is the author of Samuel Maclure Architect (Horsdal & Schubart, 1985), winner of the City of Vancouver Heritage Award in 1986. Bingham's Samuel Maclure Architect has a foreword by Arthur Erickson. Samuel Maclure designed numerous houses, mostly in Vancouver and Victoria, between 1892 and 1929. Many have been restored and are now designated heritage buildings. She also wrote More Than A House: The Story of Roedde House and Barclay Heritage Square (Roedde House Preservation Society, 1997). It traces the history of the house and Gustav Roedde, a bookbinder and printer from Germany who commissioned Francis Rattenbury to design his abode in Vancouver's West End in the late 1890s.
