FROM DUBLIN TO CANADA: NEW MEMOIR A PORTRAIT OF ONE MAN'S LIFE IN CANADA'S MUSIC, ARTS, AND JOURNALISM SCENE OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS.

(August 23, 2011) RMB | Rocky Mountain Books proudly announces the release of Leaving Dublin: Writing My Way from Ireland to Canada by bestselling author Brian Brennan. Leaving Dublin is Brennan's engaging reflection on his forty year career as a musician, broadcaster, and journalist.

From Dublin to Toronto, Vancouver to Prince George, and with several stops along the way, Brian Brennan settled in Calgary and became a respected columnist with the Calgary Herald. With passion, humour and vivid stories, Brennan tells how he left an unsatisfying but safe job in the Irish civil service to seek new opportunities in a country where he knew nobody and faced an uncertain future.

Leaving Dublin is an entertaining and compelling memoir that mingles music, journalism, arts and politics. Whether travelling across Canada making a living playing Irish folk music, covering the daily business of life in BC's small towns, or rallying his colleagues on the picket lines of one of Canada's most controversial strikes, Brennan has watched a nation and profession evolve.

Brian Brennan moved to Canada in 1966. He has worked as a journalist and author, publishing eight books of biography and social history. He was the first recipient of Canada's Dave Greber Freelance Writers Award and has written freelance articles and columns for numerous magazines and newspapers including the New York Times, the Globe and Mail, and the Toronto Star. Brian and his wife live in Calgary.
