Born on February 17, 1925 in New Westminster, Brown served in the Royal Canadian Navy. After graduating from UBC with a commerce degree he worked as campaign manager for B.C. Premier Byron Johnson. After his involvement in politics he worked in marketing for Standard Oil of B.C. and Chevron Oil Europe until 1984. His book, Hubbard - The Forgotten Boeing Aviator (Peanut Butter Publishing, 1996), is the story of Eddie Hubbard, an aviator who influenced William Boeing to invest in commercial aircraft. He retired to Pender Island--not to be confused with the poet Jim Brown. [See other Jim Brown entry.]
